Metro is suggesting Everton think of Bony as the ideal man to fill their star player’s shoes when the Belgian international returns to Chelsea following his loan spell at Goodison Park.
He netted 16 goals in 33 appearances for Everton, who are managed by former Swansea City player and boss Roberto Martinez.
Bony, 25, was a record £12m signing for Swansea, from Vitesse Arnhem last year.
Five of his 25 goals have come in the Europa League, a record Everton will be considering closely, having qualified for the same competition this season.
But Bony has stated clearly he sees his future at the Liberty Stadium.
