SWANSEA City are on course to sign a forward before tonight's transfer deadline - but their bid for Tottenham winger Nacer Chadli looks to have failed.
Swansea are understood to be working on a deal for a player who is capable of operating out wide or as a central striker.
But their attempt to pull off a transfer coup by landing Chadli on loan looks doomed.
Swansea first tried to sign the Belgian international during the summer but lost out to Spurs, who stumped up £7 million to bring him to the Premier League from FC Twente.
Chadli has struggled to nail down a first-team place at White Hart Lane – he has managed only eight Premier League starts – and the Evening Post revealed earlier that Swansea had revived their interest in the 24-year-old.
However, although the player's agent admitted that a move to Swansea would be "interesting", Chadli looks set to remain at White Hart Lane.
Spurs have allowed Lewis Holtby to join Fulham on loan, and boss Tim Sherwood suggested this morning that there would be no more outgoings.
Swansea have also been linked with Reading's Garath McCleary, but the former Nottingham Forest man is not expected to arrive in Wales either.
