SWANSEA City claimed a hard-earned point at Southampton as Nathan Dyer came back to haunt his former club.

The winger left the bench to level for Michael Laudrup's side, cancelling out Morgan Schneiderlin's earlier effort.

Swansea started the match the better, but Southampton came closest to scoring in the first half.

Gaston Ramirez and Adam Lallana both missed chances, while a shot from Ki Sung Yueng which was saved by Paulo Gazzaniga was Swansea's only real opportunity before the interval.

Southampton upped the tempo after the restart.

They began playing long, looping balls to Ricky Lambert that had Swansea's defence creaking.

After several near misses Schneiderlin brought down a Lambert header on his chest and nodded past Gerhard Tremmel on 64 minutes.

But that lead lasted just six minutes as a Saints mistake presented Swansea with a gift wrapped equaliser.

Goalkeeper Gazzaniga played a loose pass to Maya Yoshida and he was robbed by Dyer.

The Saints youth product raced in on goal before unleashing a low shot that cannoned in off the post.
