A SOLDIER found dead at a Welsh mountain range has now been named.
The Ministry of Defence has named him as Captain Rob Carnegie, of the Royal Signals.
His body was discovered at the Brecon Beacons over the weekend.
A Dyfed-Powys Police spokeswoman confirmed they received a report of a sudden death on Saturday (jan 26) at 9.42pm at Corn Du, the second highest south Wales peak, in Storey Arms.
It is understood the captain was from Dublin.
The MoD said: "It's with great sadness that we can confirm that Captain Rob Carnegie of the Royals Signals has died in an incident in the Brecons Beacons.
"The soldier's family have been informed and are being supported. Our thoughts are with them at this difficult time.
"As is normal in circumstances such as this, the incident is being investigated and it would be inappropriate to comment further."
An Army spokesman said: "An investigation is being carried out in the circumstances surrounding the incident."
