DANNY Graham says he is sad to have left Swansea City after completing a £5 million move to Sunderland.
Graham, who has scored 21 goals in 18 months as a Swan, has signed a three-and-a-half-year contract at the Stadium of Light.
There has been speculation that Graham could go for much for the season because he has been unable to pin down a place in Michael Laudrup's side.
And there were suggestions this week that the 27-year-old wanted a return to his native North East for unspecified personal reasons.
"I'm sad to be leaving Swansea, but delighted to be joining Sunderland and moving back home to the North East for personal reasons," Graham said.
"I've really enjoyed my time at Swansea, but everyone moves on at some time in football.
"Obviously I would have liked more game-time this season, but that's the way it goes and I'm looking forward to the new challenge at Sunderland.
"I would like to think I played my part in Swansea's success so far in the Premier League, especially last season.
"I can only speak in a positive way about the club, especially the supporters and the squad of players. They have been outstanding and I'd like to thank everyone for making my time so enjoyable.
"I believe, 100 per cent, that the club has a bright future. The boys have done very well since stepping up to the Premier League and it will only get even better for them.
"There's a major cup final to look forward to and I'm sure they will continue to progress."
Swansea paid a then club-record £3.5 million for Graham following their promotion from the Championship in 2011.
He has since served Swansea admirably, and the club's fans had made it clear they did not want him to leave.
But Graham attracted interest from a host of a top-flight clubs when it became apparent that he was not central to Laudrup's Liberty plans.
His exit leaves Swansea with a hole to fill in their squad ahead of today's 11pm transfer deadline — but at this stage there is no guarantee that they will bring anybody in.
Despite not being a regular, Graham has netted seven Swansea goals this season, making him the club's second top-scorer behind Michu.

Good luck, Danny. You are and you always will be a classy player. Will remember you as a nice lad, too.

I wish DG all the best and hope he finds the success and happiness that eludes most players that leave the Swans. Why will he be hated ?. There is a statue outside of the Liberty of our finest home produced player Ivor Allchurch. Ivor left us for Newcastle and returned but with a detour of playing for Cardiff. I saw him and Charlo rip the ass out of us at Ninian park and after that he came home and played for a few more years for us, He was as loved second time round as his first. Nothing last for ever in football or in life so good luck Danny and i hope you bang them un for the Black cats except when you play against us.

Don't bother with Cresswell, he is just a rival fan annoyed by swansea's success and his opinions are designed purely to try and cause upset and show us his pain. Moving on, glad for danny, I think he will do really well there, he will not be forgotten and I will be cheering him on. Well done Danny, the bottom line is you have grown in value and helped our club a lot. You will always be well thought down this way, now go show 'em what you can do!

cresswell 1 What a pathetic comment to make. If it wasn't for DG's goals last season we could have been in trouble, also he was second highest goalscorer behind Michu this season although he had little game time. Perhaps it would be better instead to have hated idiots instead of hated ex Swans players. Congratulations! you are now no1. DG has done more for the Swans than nobodies like you could ever do. Good luck Danny, hope you get the game time you deserve and the goals(just not against us!)

Comments from ML are that he isn't panicking about doing a trade this Jan. Let's face it, with the club well on the way to 40 points (and safety) there is time enough to sort out who will become favourite to replace DG. Time for Mr Shecter to step up to the mark and earn his keep. Anyhow, let's continue with our faith in the boss and chairman. They know what they are doing.

Sorry to see him go to be honest but if that's what he needs to do to sort out his personal issues then so be it . .thanks Danny for everything. Now then let's hope that we have someobody in mind to come in as I cannot believe that the Club would not have already been in touch as this has been on the cards for a while now and it would be a shame if we were to suddenly start slipping down the pecking order through a lack of a good goalscorer as apart from Michu nobody else that we have comes close.
