KIND-HEARTED customers have donated close to £1,000 towards a charity appeal.

Leeds Building Society has collected £950 towards the 2014 Marie Curie Cancer Care Great Daffodil Appeal.

The city branch of the society has helped to support the appeal by collecting donations for the daffodils from people at the city's Union Street branch.

All of the society's 65 branches in the UK were involved in the fundraising drive.

Cash raised from the Great Daffodil Appeal helps Marie Curie offer more free nursing care for people with all terminal illnesses in their own homes and in the charity's hospices.

David Owen, Leeds Building Society Swansea branch manager said they were pleased to help towards the overall fundraising effort.
