POLICE were called to the Llangennech home of Moors Murderer Ian Brady's confidante Jackie Powell after a car outside was vandalised.

Residents at the Brynhyfryd estate in Llangennech were shocked when they awoke on Saturday morning to find white paint splattered across the vehicle, which was parked outside Ms Powell's house.

The rear of the silver soft-top Renault had been covered in white paint, with a trail of it leading up to the car.

Neighbours said they believed the vehicle belonged to Ms Powell who, they said, had only returned to the house on Friday.

Police, however, were unable to confirm who the owner is.

Now they fear they could get caught up in potential vigilante attacks because of Ms Powell's links to serial killer Brady.

One neighbour said it had happened during the night.

"I didn't see anything, but I woke up and the car was covered in paint," she said.

"It could have been anyone."

"We are a bit too close to it."

Ms Powell's next-door neighbour Julia Howells said: "I think it's been a long time coming to be honest.

"Obviously with my car being in the drive maybe it could be a target.

"I really think the message is strong now — just go away please and don't come back."

And another neighbour Wendy Williams said: "This was my concern originally, because it was so publicised, that something would happen.

"It's awful."

A police spokeswoman said police were investigating.

She said: "Dyfed-Powys Police are not able to confirm who the victim of crime is but we can confirm that a vehicle was damaged in the Brynhyfryd, Llangennech area.

Inquiries to trace those responsible are now under way."

Anyone with information should contact Llwynhendy police station on 101.

No excuse for taking the law into your own hands. The legal system doesn't like that sort of thing and rightly so. It reminds me of the attack on a woman's car in Cardiff a few years ago. The word "Pedo" was written all over her car, because she was a pediatrician. Hope they catch this vandal and hit them with a heavy fine

I forgot to mention all the claims from you of 'victimisation' by the EP. It's not just grief trolling either. Reams of the stuff.

Hadoxxxxxxxxxxxxx Changed to another numerical sequence. Again. Are you claiming that the 'Hadoken1978' posting of Saturday, March 10 2012, 5:26PM was not you? http://tinyurl.com/8ep5mya Your comment has gone from view but, there's a ref to it at 9:52PM. I've highlighted that one because it involves a Police officer and the Police are used to dealing with revolting people. There are many other examples but, you already know that.

    Meant 'families of the deceased'.

Hadoxxxxxxxxxxx Any one who has not commited a crime, is harrassed by ghoulish reporters, braying criminal types, morons, vandals, other gutter dwellers, and has had to flee for their own safety is a victim. You, hado under your numerous numerically ending pseuonyms have posted sick comments about fatal road accidents, suicides etc. Many of your remarks were so vile and upsetting to families of the bereaved that the EP administrators removed them.

The legal advocate, having been re-labelled as a 'confidante' by the gutter press, is subjected to intimidation, threats of violence, vandalism etc., by total scumbags and what happens? Neighbours say she should move and EP commenter hadafrend, our well known grief troll, posts one of his predictably venomous rants. What do the lowlifes base their hatred on? A statement from Ian Brady! You have to be pretty stupid to take anything that Brady says at face value. Who will be next for similar treatment from criminals, ex-cons and their pig-ignorant families? Brady's doctor? Brady's dentist? The Prison Welfare Officer?

Why is Jackie Powell suffering from this witch hunt? Because she didn't allow the press to see a private letter - if it ever existed. The national newspapers should be ashamed of themselves, but they won't be, as this kind of thing has happened before and it will happen again.
