POLICE have arrested and bailed a 30-year-old man after a dramatic car blaze outside Llanelli's Travelodge.
Onlookers watched on in disbelief as flames billowed from an allegedly stolen blue Kia and a stationary white Peugeot, following a collision involving both vehicles outside the hotel in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
A staff member informed emergency services, who rushed to the scene to aid the male driver of the Kia. He was taken to hospital for treatment, but his injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
Llanelli resident Ioan Lloyd, 27, was driving past the Travelodge at the time and alerted the fire service.
He said: "It was as if it was coming from the boot. It was blazing."
A Travelodge spokeswoman said: "We can confirm that at 1am on Tuesday morning a collision did take place between an allegedly stolen vehicle and a parked car in the Llanelli Town Council car park, which is adjacent to our Llanelli Central Travelodge.
"A member of our hotel team called the emergency services when the incident took place and was on hand to offer assistance."
A spokeswoman for the fire service said two crews from Llanelli used three hose reel jets, one breathing apparatus, and foam at the scene before they left at 1.37am.
A police spokeswoman confirmed that the force is investigating the incident. She said: "A 30-year-old man has been street bailed by police to attend Llanelli Police Station at a later date."
