A Penllergaer man has pleaded guilty to possessing three extreme pornography videos and 36 extreme pornography pictures.
A MAN who looked for films showing women having sex with dogs on the internet has let himself and his family down, a judge has said.
Daniel Murgatroyd downloaded three “extreme pornography” movies after searching online for them, Swansea Crown Court heard.
His computer also automatically saved 36 extreme still images he had viewed.
The court heard the 31-year-old told police he used the internet to access “eBay, banking and pornography”.
His online habits came to light after police raided the shared house he lived in on Llewellyn Road, Penllergaer, on April 5.
The court heard officers executed a search warrant following intelligence that somebody at the address was accessing images of child abuse.
No prosecution was brought against one of this housemates in relation to those pictures after the images were found to be tiny “thumbnail” photos, but in the course of the investigation all the computers in house were searched — and Murgatroyd’s animal pornography was found.
Murgatroyd pleaded guilty to possessing three extreme pornography videos and 36 extreme pornography pictures when he appeared before Recorder John Philpotts.
Christopher James, in mitigation, said his client was ashamed of what he had done — and would not be viewing such images again.
He said: “The defendant has co-operated fully with the police investigation, and deeply regrets what he has done — he is ashamed. He was a man who was previously of impeccably character.
“He has expressed his intention never to go near this kind of material again.”
Murgatroyd was given a three month prison sentence suspended for 12 months, and was made the subject of a 12 months supervision order. He must also do 200 hours of unpaid work, and pay £500 prosecution costs.
Recorder Philpotts told him: “You have let your family and yourself down very badly indeed. You were previously of good character — you have lost that now.
“These offences are serious because they involved the exploitation of females and of animals — there are victims of these offences, even though you may not have thought about it in those terms before.”
