PONTYBEREM'S Amy Roberts will be a part of the team Welsh Cycling are launching to compete at track cycling World Cups.
Team SWI WC, which will be unveiled next week, will be a Welsh group who will compete at UCI Track World Cups during the 2012-13 season in Colombia, Scotland and Mexico.
The UCI Track World Cup series attracts the world's best track cyclists, and among those competing last season were Olympic gold medallists Sir Chris Hoy, Victoria Pendleton and Laura Trott.
Roberts won two bronze medals at last month's Junior Track Cycling World Championships, finishing on the podium in the individual points race and the team pursuit alongside Hayley Jones and Elinor Barker, who will also represent Team SWI WC.
Roberts and Barker will now be racing for Wales's brand new Team SWI WC at UCI Track Cycling World Cups, which are the first step towards Olympic qualification for national teams, determining each country's international ranking.
The programme of racing at each Track World Cup mirrors the events at the Olympic Games, with Welsh riders looking to compete against the world's best ahead of the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
Double Olympic gold medallist Geraint Thomas's former coach Darren Tudor has been named head coach of Team SWI WC, while Matt Cosgrove will be the performance director.
