A MAN has appeared in court charged with fraudulently taking money from Tycroes Rugby Club.

Marvin Middlecoate, aged 45, is said to have fraudulently taken £7,050 from the club promising to secure the attendance of X Factor winner Alexandra Burke.

The club say they believed she would be the headline act at the 2011 Party on the Pitch event.

Middlecoate, from Cloverley Place in Crenhive in Kent, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

He also denied a charge of theft.

He was told his next appearance will be for trial which is due to take place on September 11.
