ABERAVON have made a clutch of new signings as they look to put last season’s struggles behind them.
The Wizards only survived relegation on the final day of the season when they picked up two bonus points against Carmarthen Quins, meaning Swansea dropped out of the Premiership.
Chief among them is the re-signing of Sam Williams from the Ospreys.
The lock played twice for the region last year, including against Castres in the Heineken Cup.
He said: “After two tough years struggling with injury I’m excited to get back on the playing field.
“I’ve enjoyed my time at the Ospreys but injuries prevented me progressing, so I’m really looking forward to getting back playing.”
Aberavon have also signed his brother Simon from Llantrisant.
Young wing prospect Jay Baker also makes the move to the Talbot Athletic Ground from Cwmavon.
Commercial manager Gareth Howells said: “Jay is a player with natural talent and has taken his opportunities when given this season.
“Jay adds another attacking style to our back line with his power and pace and no doubt will be one to watch next season.”
Aberavon have also captured former Blues and Pontypridd prop Ryan Harford and Ben Davies from Tata Steel.
Among the players departing Aberavon are Paul Bamsey, who has played for the club for more than ten years.
Lock Rhydian Gierat, centre Richard Thomas, wing Mike Powell and prop David Edwards are also moving on.
